Motorcycle Trips

Rolling Thunder XVIII - 2005 - Washington, D.C.

I met a few friends at Harley Davidson of Maryland in Elkridge. We rode to DC together. A couple of the guys decided to go to the end of the parade, park their bikes and watch the parade. I stuck with 3 others and rode the parade. We got there about 11:00 AM. It can be a while hanging around the lot, but there's plenty of bikes and people to gab with. I shot several panoramic shots - beaware that they can be quite large files and take a few minutes to download on a dialup connection - I also got a few pics of the start of the parade as it left parking lot promptly at noon. We left the lot around 3:00 PM.

I met a nice young couple from Germany (Melanie and Christoph, they just happened to be there and wondered what all the ruckus was about. I chatted with them for a bit and took their picture. I have since heard from Melanie and sent her copies of her pics.

The parade ends at the Vietnam War Memorial and we made a visit there as well as the Korean War Memorial and Lincoln's Memorial. The Washington Monument was clearly visible in the background.

Mark Lindsay (Paul Revere and the Raiders fame) was performing on the edge of the reflection pool.

This ride was done on my Kawasaki - The Harley is in the shop with an inner primary seal like and it won't start

This is a TERRIFFIC way to spend Memorial day!
